If you’re between the ages of 15 and 30, chances are we don’t need to tell you how rough the past year has been for young people. Jack.org has always worked with youth to make positive change for mental health, and in the wake of this pandemic, our mission is more critical than ever before.
Our staff has been working hard to raise the funds we need to meet the needs of young people in this challenging time. And, like we do every summer, we are keen to get an extra boost to our team by bringing on a cohort of interns to help across the organization. This is a paid internship that runs from April 29 - August 30, 2024. Our staff’s team is works in a hybrid work environment, where people may come onsite or work remotely. We encourage applicants from across Canada to apply!
Position: Intern, Major Events
Reporting to: Manager, Major Events
In this role, you will get to:
- Support the Major Events team with planning, research, and administrative tasks for our capstone event Jack Ride happening in May
- Ensure a positive supporter experience, and assist in any tracking or troubleshooting associated with our fundraising platform including donations, tax receipts and reports
- Help coordinate communications and rider support for our online biking platform Strava
- Help coordinate and support new volunteers in their roles
- Communicate and coordinate with participants, donors, and staff
- Track expenses for materials, supplies, deliveries, and swag
- Respond to inquiries from the public related to the event - timing, accessibility, cost, sign-up, fundraising, etc.
- Research and propose gift in kind opportunities to be used for fundraising incentives and event day
- Assists the team with stewardship and recognition programs as the need arises
- Lend a hand to our busy team wherever it’s needed!
We’re looking for someone who:
- Is a quick learner and is responsible, reliable, and resourceful
- Has outstanding problem-solving, project management, and organizational capabilities
- Is a keen and enthusiastic person who is looking to make an impact
- Has previous customer service experience and has no problem connecting warmly with people by phone and email
- Is extremely detail-oriented
- Is comfortable dealing with ambiguity in fast-paced environments
- Has strong written and verbal communication skills
- Has a positive attitude and an eagerness to learn and collaborate
- Is proficient in Microsoft Suite and G-Suite products
We would love it if you had:
- Previous experience with fundraising activities
- Experience in Jack.org’s programs
- Working competency in written and spoken French
- Experience working with a CRM (e.g. Salesforce)
- Knowledge of the mental health landscape for young people in Canada
