We are recruiting for an Automation Specialist (Electrical) Co-op Student to work with our Systems, Software & Solutions Team in Calgary.Reporting to the Manager, Operations, the successful candidate will work on multiple project teams, providing technical project support, knowledge and experience relating to automation control systems and instrumentation solutions within our Engine and Compression and Remote Automation business units.
Work Term – 16 months (May 2024 - August 2025)
To assist with the following (training provided):

Working with customers’ engineers to define functional requirements; managing customer expectations
-
Technical application and implementation of Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)

Responsible for electrical design aspects of the project; project scope includes but not limited to:
-
Design of panels/cabinets/junction boxes
-
Process skid electrical
-
Electrical design for both classified areas and non-classified areas
-
Supporting projects through engineering design, integration, commissioning and start-up activities
-
Ensuring compliance with all applicable customer engineering and safety standards, practices, procedures, plant documentation requirements and methods of installation

Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards
-
Contributing and supporting the development and evolution of design standards
-
Understanding project management processes

Current Engineering student: Electrical Engineering
- Demonstrated Customer Service and Sales in an industrial environment an asset

Broad understanding of instrumentation and control technology with common engineering tools and work processes

A working knowledge of programming languages (i.e. PLC ladder logic, Function Block Diagrams, Structured Text)

Proficiency in MS Office programs; Word, Power Point, Excel
- High level technical skills and ability to learn in a fast-paced environment

Strong communication and time management skills
- Collaborative team player and strong work principles
- Excellent office organizational and operational skills
- Detail oriented
