Your Contribution
As a Structural Engineering Intern, you will work in collaboration with the Structural team
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Perform structural site investigations/inspections/reviews, gather data and prepare technical reports, site review/inspection reports and compliance letters;
- Describe existing structural conditions and provide engineering solutions as required through Structural Condition Assessments and engineering studies;
- Perform engineering calculations, analysis and design of structural elements including concrete, steel, masonry, wood, light-gauge metal, aluminum, glass/glazing and precast using the latest and applicable building and design codes/standards;
- Manage and/or generate deliverable documentation (i.e. technical reports, drawings & specifications) for structural projects which requires accuracy in calculations and/or completeness of data;
- Regularly interact with engineers, project managers, clients and contractors throughout the project duration;
- Assist the Engineering Team throughout project duration, to ensure targets are met (schedule/budget);
- Apply and promote Englobe’s health and safety rules.
Your Profile
- A Bachelor’s degree (in Structural or Civil with a Structural Option) from an accredited University;
- Registered as an EIT with PEO (will be considered an asset);
- 1-2 years’ experience in the Structural Engineering/Construction industry;
- Solid base of knowledge of engineering principles and practices;
- Solid base of knowledge of the National Building Code and Ontario Building Code;
- Solid base of knowledge of structural analysis and design (steel, concrete, wood);
- Experience with structural analysis/design software;
- Experience with site reviews/inspections;
- Proficient in writing technical reports;
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite;
- Strong communication skills (written and oral). Proficient in English;
- Comfortable working as part of a team, as well as alone;
- Ability to effectively and efficiently problem-solve, tackle new assignments and multi‑task in a busy work environment with an emphasis on attention to detail;
- Possession of or eligibility to obtain Security Clearance;
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout Ontario (incl. remote areas);
- Willing to travel/work remotely, as required;
- Willing/ability to work nightshifts – Depending on project requirements;
- Must be located within the GTA.
