Health & Safety Co-op Student

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in driver incident investigation and review
Assist with filing and scanning documents
Participate in health & safety committee meeting
Assist with office & driver’s safety training online
Assist with documenting Workers Compensation Board claims and employee injuries/illness.

Occupational Health & Safety

Assist with the company Safety Management System (SMS)
Assist with the corporate HS&E policies, processes and systems
Assist in site monthly inspections
Assist in risk identification assessment and hazard analysis.
Assist with internal incident investigation reports
Assist with the company return to work program
Maintain knowledge of current HS&E strategies, trends and technologies by developing industry working relationships and participating in exchange groups, associations and committees.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills including oral, verbal, and written communication skills.
Ability to write professional correspondence to internal and external communications
Ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
Grade 12 Diploma and enroll as a full-time student
Experience and knowledge of Transportation industry an asset.
Familiar with the Canada Labour Code and other relevant Federal and Provincial Health & Safety legislation.
