The Role:
As a part of the Digital Transformation & Innovation team, the Quality Assurance Intern will be working closely with this team, as well as cross functional teams such as Integration teams, Data Analytics, Finance and Cybersecurity. The main projects for this position will center around being the primary QA responsible for a large API project. This role entails having some fundamental knowledge of software testing.
This is a summer internship opportunity which will run from January to April. The role will work directly with a product manager and have the opportunity to be part of a corporate environment, be an active participant in a designated project, and be a member of a highly collaborate team.
The Accountabilities:
- This person is responsible for drafting end-to-end test cases; executing the test cases and managing all activities to ensure that all the objectives are met and that the solution works as expected. The solution should be tested in terms of functionality, performance, reliability, stability and compatibility with other legacy- and / or external systems.
- Identify test requirements from specifications, and map test case requirements.
- Develop, document and maintain functional test cases and other test artifacts like the test data, data validation, harness scripts and automated scripts.
- Execute and evaluate manual or automated test cases and report test results.
- Hold and facilitate test plan/case reviews with cross-functional team members.
- Identify any potential quality issues per defined process and escalate potential quality issues immediately to management.
- Ensure that validated deliverables meet functional and design specifications and requirements.
- Isolate, replicate, and report defects and verify defect fixes.
- Collaborate with QA Lead and other QA team to assist with meeting Sprint Goals.
The Requirements:
- Current student in 2nd or 3rd year at a post-secondary institution
- Working towards a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar course is required
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is required
- Excellent communication skills
- Team player with a positive, can-do attitude
- Eager to learn and contribute
- Highly technical and comfortable with Software development lifecycle, Agile Practices, Automation, and test management.
- Strong time management and able to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Self-sufficient individual with the ability to work well in cross-functional teams
This is a winter internship opportunity from January to April. You will work 5 days/week between Monday to Friday during regular business hours. The incumbent must be able to work at 150 York St 2 days/week.
