Job Overview
The Process Control Programmer/Analyst role utilizes systems, process, and business knowledge to provide application support. The successful candidate will take direction from senior automation employees in developing software to support our Lake Erie Works steelmaking production process. The candidate will be required to gain a working understanding of the BOF and caster processes.

This position reports to the Primary Automation Manager.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop system enhancements in our level 2 automation systems.
- Collaborate with teammates to identify and implement improvements to user interfaces, reports, data processing engines, extract/transform/load activities, etc.
- Assist users in resolving problems and answers questions with minimal supervision.
- Participate and provide functional input into project-based activities.
- Identify and recommend opportunities for system improvement.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of business processes and Stelco’s digitalization journey.
Job Qualifications
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
- An understanding of programming methodology and techniques.
- Exposure with relational data and data normalization.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (both verbal and written) with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management.
- A Valid Ontario G or G2 Drivers License is required
Job Skills and Knowledge
· Experience with object-oriented software languages such as C#, VB.net, Java or Python is required. History with Oracle PL/SQL would be a distinguishing factor.
· Experience with relational databases such as Oracle or MSSQL is required.
· Demonstrate ability to learn new software languages.
· Ability to work both autonomously and within a team environment.
· Ability to adapt to the challenge of unfamiliar tasks.
· The ability to follow direction and work well with others is a necessity.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite of tools.
