The Role
Pason is seeking a Data Science Intern for a 16-month internship from May 2024 until August 2025. You will use your strong analytical and programming skills to extract meaningful insights from IoT-based sensor data. Your responsibilities will include developing data analytics, signal processing, machine learning, and control loop algorithms. You will work with a talented group of algorithm and control system designers in an applied research setting.
This is an opportunity to learn how data science works in a real-world industrial application.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Design algorithms which clean, aggregate, and analyze data from industrial process sensors for the purposes of performance analysis, event detection, and process optimization.
- Design, test, and deploy standalone and web-based software applications for data analytics.
- Design real-time signal processing and control loop algorithms and test their performance on historical sensor data as well as live field trials.
- Learn state-of-the-art machine learning techniques and perform experiments to determine how they are best applied to petroleum oilfield data.
- Evolve architecture of key performance indicator (KPI) database and verify enhanced functionality using BI tools such as Power BI, Spotfire, and Tableau.
- Work with Pason account managers to solve mathematical and statistical analysis problems for high-priority customers.
- Learn and use the following technologies: Matlab, Python (ML and dashboarding libraries), GIT, AWS, SQL databases, HTML/CSS/JavaScript, and web frameworks.
- Participate in team technical discussions, research paper reviews, and propose novel ideas to solve challenging engineering problems.
- Present product prototypes to sales, engineering, and/or management teams.

Hybrid Work Environment
- This position allows the opportunity for an employee to work in a hybrid environment where a portion of their role is in the office and the other portion remote.
Education
- Currently enrollment in 3rd year studies in Electrical, Computer, Software or Geomatics Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields
