We currently have an exciting opportunity as a PIM Project Draftsperson Co-op student for the Fall 2023 period. This is a 12-month full-time role based out of our facility in North York Ontario, and reports to the Product Drawings Team Lead.

JOB PURPOSE
The PIM Project Draftsperson is responsible for working with the Product Drawings Team Lead on PIM Projects of a technical nature, delegated from our Oakville team.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITES
- Reverse engineering of products, parts & components into CAD software using a variety of tools and techniques, including 3D scanners, hand tools, CMM
- Create and revise technical drawings and CAD models following IPEX, US and Canadian standards and specifications
- Periodic travel to other IPEX facilities for data gathering
- Partake in maintaining 5S standards and implementing continuous improvement projects
- Other Duties as required or assigned
HEALTH, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Follow plant health, safety and environmental policies, rules and regulations.
- Monitor and report health, safety and environmental hazards to supervisor and/or JHSC member (Reference HSE 12.0)
- Serve on the Joint Health and Safety Committee when requested (Reference HSE 8.0)
- Provide equipment specific training for new employees as necessary
- Use PPE as required
- Ensure that equipment and tools are maintained in good and safe working condition. Report any damaged equipment or tools to Supervisor
- Take every precaution reasonable to protect the safety of other employees
- Participate in Accident/Incident Investigations in compliance with HSE 11.0 as required by providing all necessary detailed information during the process.
- Participate in implementation of corrective actions as assigned arising from HSE activities
- Follow Refusal to Work Procedure when applicable (Reference HSE 48.0)
- Ensure the policies and practices of HSEMS are adhered to on a daily basis
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Experience using SolidWorks is required
- Experience in other CAD software is an asset
- Experience with technical measuring tools (calipers, Telescoping gauges, etc) is an asset
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Good problem solving & analytical skills
- Able to draw conclusions from available information, validating assumptions as required
- Able to follow instructions and directions diligently
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Applied knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and other MS Office applications
- Experience with VBA is an asset
- Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Experience with Injection Molding / Plastics Manufacturing is an Asset
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Currently enrolled in a University Level Mechanical Engineering program or equivalent
- Experience in 3D model design using CAD/CAM software
- Experience dealing with cross-functional teams an asset
INTERACTIONS
- Daily contact with Product Drawings Team Lead for assigned projects and tasks
- Daily contact with Drawings team members for collaboration on projects and tasks
- Occasional contact with Product Data and Content Manager for assistance on projects
- Occasional contact with Oakville Team(s) for special tasks
WORKING CONDITIONS
Incumbent spends a portion of time in the office and in the plant requiring varying degrees of minor physical labour. Personal safety is affected by exposure to heat, dust and noise levels. Moderate amount of sensory attention is required. Limited control of work pace and predictable workflow, bring moderate amount of stresses to this position.
