You will be assisting Englobe Ottawa’s instrumentation team with construction monitoring (noise, vibration, groundwater, settlement, etc.) for variety of high-profile projects throughout the Ottawa area. This position involves working both in the field and the office.

Your Contribution
As a Geotechnical Instrumentation Technician/Engineering Intern, you will work in collaboration with the Instrumentation team
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Delivery of geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring services to the public construction sector;
- Provide on-site noise, vibration, dust, settlement, groundwater, and inclination and tilt monitoring for construction;
- Conduct site visits and provide building monitoring consulting support;
- Performs field and office work as directed by senior staff;
- Coordinate with subconsultants and subcontractors;
- Familiarity with geotechnical instrumentation, the ability to install and understand the theory
- This includes Inclinometers, VWPs, tilt meters, crack gauges, strain gauges, displacement nodes, etc
- Apply and promote Englobe’s health and safety rules.
Your Profile
- Degree in an engineering-based field;
- Degrees in other fields (environmental or technology) also considered, along with related certificates/diploma;
- Valid provincial driver’s license and access to reliable transportation;
- Is able to manage own time, when given a deliverable date as well as coordinate with other colleagues and subcontractors;
- Enjoys working both in the office and onsite;
- Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs;
- Able to work independently and as part of a team;
- Able to effectively and efficiently problem-solve and multi-task in a busy work environment;
- Strives for exactness while maintaining efficiency, has a high attention to detail;
- High level of integrity and work ethic;
- Comfortable with adapting as needed;
- Knowledgeableabout Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Excel and Teams);
- Looking for long term career growth within consulting field;
- Consistently executing prescribed technical procedures, safe work practices and work plans in a safe, efficient manner;
- Demonstrated sensitivity and consideration for occupational health and safety.
