Job Summary
Our vision at Peace Portal Church is that we would be a church that ‘grows disciples, serves our neighbors, and shares Christ’ and we want your help as we aim to develop that in our kids and young families this summer. In joining our KidShine team, you will be responsible to help run our summer camp while also creating opportunities for kids and their families to integrate into the life of the church on Sundays. In addition to planning and running our summer camp, you will be given the opportunity to shape and add your leadership to our ongoing Sunday programs for KidShine children. Eligibility
The position of KidShine Intern is part of the Canada Summer Jobs program. Eligible candidates for this position must be 15-30 years old at the start of their employment and must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.

Responsibilities
- Coordinate with staff, volunteers, and camp director for our summer kid’s camp (July 3rd-7th) with a focus on kids, preschool to grade 5
- Provide support to the planning, implementing, and administration of KidShine ministry programs on Sunday mornings
- Teaching in preschool and elementary KidShine classrooms every Sunday morning
- Attend KidShine team and wider staff meetings
- Plan and implement a fun family event with Summer Kidshine Team
- Assist in networking, recruiting, and scheduling volunteers
- Implement and monitor our Child Safety policies as per the KidShine Volunteer Handbook
- Supporting KidShine team in upkeep of classrooms and teaching supplies
Skills + Experience
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Adept at leading, collaborating, and communicating with volunteer leaders and teams of all ages
- Is a recent or current KidShine volunteer
- Average working knowledge of Microsoft word, excel, etc.
Qualifications
- Successful criminal record background check, and vulnerable sector check and reference
