Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Islamic Relief Canada is seeking a full-time Policy and Media Analyst to support policy and government relations projects within our Communications and Government Relations department.
- Preparing briefings, notes, and papers relating to federal government policy
- Performing research activities, such as literature reviews, baseline studies, summaries and data analysis;
- Monitoring traditional Canadian media (news, TV, radio, etc.) and preparing media analyses;
- Developing materials for communicating results, including reports, policy papers, blog entries, videos, presentations and other resources;
- Assisting the department with administrative work, as needed.
Qualifications & Competencies
- Experience in journalism and the Canadian media landscape and/or working in policy development and government an asset
- Excellent research and writing skills
- Motivated self-starter who is able to take both guidance and initiative
- Ability to be flexible, adaptable and contribute to a fast-paced work environment
- Commitment to IRC mission, values and goals
- Proficiency with Gmail, MS Office Suite, Google Drive, and Asana
- Detail-oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills
- Team player, able to work collaboratively within a team environment
- Demonstrated ability to safeguard confidential information and maintain a high degree of professionalism
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work
- Eligible to work in Canada
