Health & Safety Co-op Student

This position is brand new in our structure. This means that you will be responsible to define it, at least in part, as we have some expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in driver incident investigation and review
- Assist with filing and scanning documents
- Participate in health & safety committee meeting
- Assist with office & driver’s safety training online
- Assist with documenting Workers Compensation Board claims and employee injuries/illness.
Occupational Health & Safety
- Assist with the company Safety Management System (SMS)
- Assist with the corporate HS&E policies, processes and systems
- Assist in site monthly inspections
- Assist in risk identification assessment and hazard analysis.
- Assist with internal incident investigation reports
- Assist with the company return to work program
- Maintain knowledge of current HS&E strategies, trends and technologies by developing industry working relationships and participating in exchange groups, associations and committees.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including oral, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to write professional correspondence to internal and external communications
- Ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
- Grade 12 Diploma and enroll as a full-time student
- Experience and knowledge of Transportation industry an asset.
- Familiar with the Canada Labour Code and other relevant Federal and Provincial Health & Safety legislation.
