Your Contribution
As an Engineering Intern you will work in collaboration with the Instrumentation team.
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Apply and promote Englobe’s health and safety rules
- Delivery of noise and vibration services to the construction, demolition, mining, pipeline, energy and public service sectors;
- Providing pre-construction and pre-blast surveys prior to the commencement of mining and construction to record the existing conditions of buildings and structures. These surveys are carried out in a predetermined area in order to protect building owners, as well as contractors, in the event of a damage claim resulting from construction or blasting activities;
- Provide on-site noise and vibration monitoring, overpressure and hydrostatic pressure monitoring for construction, blasting and mining activities to ensure compliance with noise and vibration governing regulations;
- Using remote noise and vibration data to draft factual monitoring reports and come to conclusions;
- Conduct site visits and provide acoustical and vibration testing prior to the commencement of construction activities to establish background limits;
- Measure vibration levels in building elements, watermains and gas lines and measure ambient sound levels;
- Produce weekly monitoring reports for senior staff;
- Assist senior staff with data analysis and presentation;
- In conjunction with field investigations such as pre-blast surveys and vibration monitoring, conduct damage claim investigations and provide expert witness testimonies; and,
- Coordination with subconsultants and subcontractors, including geophysical surveys, drilling services, certified risk assessors, engineering services (mechanical, electrical).
Your Profile
- Has a bachelor of applied science (civil, geotechnical, geophysical, or geological) or other applicable degree in an engineering-, environmental-, or technology-based field or other applicable diploma;
- Could be or is able to become an EIT, GIT or technologist; and,
- Has a valid provincial driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
- Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs;
- Consistently executing prescribed technical procedures, safe work practices and work plans in a safe, efficient manner
- This is an entry level position, we are looking for EITs or technicians with sound technical writing skills, who are willing to learn about the field of construction monitoring.
