Worker Sub-Type: Student (Fixed Term) Job Description: POSITION SUMMARY As part of BlackBerry’s Global Marketing Communications team, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in creating and disseminating world-class thought leadership content across a broad array of traditional and nontraditional media channels. You will learn about both the editorial and technical aspects of creating and managing various multimedia communications activities targeting a global audience. You will get insight into and support a wide variety of projects and initiatives aimed at informing and engaging professionals working at the cutting edge of the hottest and fastest growing areas in today’s technology economy. Location: Waterloo, ON Length: 8 Months (May - December 2023) RESPONSIBILITIES Monitor media coverage for news of importance, relevant industry trends, and competitors Draft/edit/proofread blogs, social media posts and other editorial content assets Monitor social channels, as well as competitive blogs and web sites Understand and use social and digital listening tools Keep a pulse on the latest social media trends and best practices by researching and reporting on how competitors and B2B tech companies are using social media Maintain a social media content calendar ensuring content is current and archiving as appropriate Collaborate with web and creative teams in support of content publication Work with outside contributors and freelancers Maintain & update customer advocacy program assets Deploy and follow up on requests to sales teams for case study and analyst reports requests Perform research to gather competitive intelligence and develop insights Help prepare weekly, monthly and ad hoc reports Assist with internal communications / content development Attend internal marketing and cross-departmental planning meetings Perform ad hoc admin tasks as assigned SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS Exemplary writing skills and attention to detail Familiarity with AP Style preferred Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or similar field Strong communications and critical-thinking skills Excellent research and organizational skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively with teams across time zones Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment A positive attitude and intellectual curiosity Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel ADDITIONAL ASSETS Knowledgeable and/or interest in any of the following: cybersecurity, enterprise technology, artificial intelligence and machine learning, electric vehicles and automotive, cloud and SaaS applications, IoT Previous PR internship experience in publishing, agency or in-house corporate setting is ideal, however not required Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 BlackBerry (NYSE: BB; TSX: BB) is a trusted security software and services company that provides enterprises and governments with the technology they need to secure the Internet of Things.
