Position Overview
We are seeking a summer intern to join our Development team at Beedie Living. We are looking for a driven, energetic student who can work well in a collaborative and fast-paced team environment. As the Development Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain experience across several different components of the project life cycle foundational to a career in development. The Development Intern will work closely with members of the Development team to advance projects towards approvals while gaining exposure to a variety of exciting project types.

Coordinating the entitlement process with municipalities by obtaining information, assisting with permit applications, and monitoring progress

Preparing presentations as required to advance the development process

Communicating and working with outside consultants for development projects

Communicating and working with other departments to complete assigned tasks.

Coordinate exchange of information across internal departments, communicating key project updates through thoughtful materials, minutes and other reporting

Undertake research and analysis projects centered around key aspects of the development process including market data, municipal policies, and emerging areas of opportunity

Assist in building and analyzing project proformas, cashflows and financial reporting related to active projects and current acquisitions

Collaborate directly with various members of the Development team to implement or evolve systems for standardization across projects

Supporting the Development Team and other Beedie Living departments a needed

Track Council updates and progression of relevant projects/policies and provide updates to the Development Team.

Use municipal GIS tools to obtain zoning and property information and review information for any property restrictions or encumbrances.

Manage and track consultant deliverables including, design plans, legal surveys, landscape and civil drawing packages, and due diligence documents.

Working towards a University degree or college diploma in business, urban geography, planning or real estate.

Related work experience is an asset, including that of previous co-op placements, internships, projects.

Appetite for learning and growing your skill set in a fast-paced environment

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Strong computer skills with a hands-on working knowledge of MS office platforms, particularly Teams, SharePoint, Planner, Excel and Word.

Team player, energetic, resourceful, reliable, and timely, with a strong ability to self-prioritize and take initiative

Comfortable working in a professional office setting with some travel to municipalities or job sites.
