Job description
A millwright student position is available at Imperial Oil’s Cold Lake, Alberta location. You will train as a member of our maintenance staff to gain practical hands-on experience with maintenance and safety procedures. On-the-job experience will be supplemented with additional related formal training. You will be required to work on your own without direct supervision following the initial training period. Frequent driving on gravel roads is a key component of this position.
This is an excellent opportunity for instrument or electrical persons currently enrolled in technical training in Millwrighting, Instrumentation or Electrical. Your primary responsibilities will include maintaining and troubleshooting process control Instrumentation for assigned units, identifying upgrades to optimize equipment functionality and supporting the testing of new technologies.
Your responsibilities will includes
- Abiding by all safety rules and standards, reporting hazards and holding responsibility for the safe operation of assigned facilities
- Participating in safety programs and attending training sessions; completing self-development courses
- Executing specific activities defined within the preventative maintenance program to maintain the integrity of assigned equipment and machinery.
- Assisting with repairs on machinery malfunctions identified through work order system and performing associated plant/field housekeeping.
- Attending and participating in the maintenance network as required
- Manage the maintenance for assigned units
- Identify operational upgrades to optimize equipment functionality and extend equipment life
- Rotate through field and plant units
- Participate in the proactive safety program

Qualifications
Academic
- Currently enrolled in technical training in Millwrighting, Instrumentation or Electrical and returning to studies after the work term
- Latest/highest education
- Technical training in progress
- Instrumentation, Electrical, millwright
- Instrumentation Engineering Technology diploma (or in progress)
- Millwright Technology diploma (or in progress)
Other
- Valid driver's license required
- Able to work in a team environment
- Able to work in shift
- Able to communicate effectively with team members
