We Are Social, a global socially-led creative agency, is on the lookout for a Social Media Data Analyst (Intern) to join our Canada team. This three month fully paid internship allows you to plug in as a member of our Research & Insights offering; the engine behind our agency’s success, with all our work backed by unparalleled data-fueled insight via our global measurement capabilities.
The nature of We Are Social’s business requires a high level of flexibility, common sense and versatility. While the specific content of the role is clearly defined below, the nature of the demands placed on us and the creativity of our research solutions means that the role will evolve over time and needs a ‘can do’ approach to picking projects up and making them happen.
What does the role involve?
- Building, managing, and executing social media insight reports, including any automated opportunities, in collaboration with our Senior Research & Insight Analyst
- Manipulating data in Excel and applying visualization and presentation techniques
- Learning to build and run queries to interpret and code conversation data (sentiment, topics, etc) which can include brand crisis monitoring
- Tracking progress against key performance indicators and suggesting strategic and creative optimization opportunities
- Conducting social listening and desk research to understand client businesses, competitors and audiences
- Analyzing and auditing brand campaign performance
- Interpreting social culture and and surfacing cultural intelligence to help brands lead, co-create and interact within the space
What are we looking for?
- A confident, passionate thinker who may be a recent graduate or already acting as a junior analyst who is seeking to contribute left and right brain analytical thinking to catalyze creative ideas
- A high bias and preference toward data and quantified thinking
- An academic background that includes some training in and familiarity with any or all of the following: Data analysis, interpretation and visualization, data automation and storytelling with numbers
- Comfort with or aptitude to learn social media tools that support social listening (e.g. Brandwatch), performance analysis (e.g. Excel, Emplifi) and native platform analytics.
- Natural curiosity and understanding of consumer behaviours and mindset in social
- Exceptional attention to detail
