Come Work with Us!
At RBC, our culture is deeply supportive and rich in opportunity and reward. You will help our clients thrive and our communities prosper, empowered by a spirit of shared purpose.
Whether you’re helping clients find new opportunities, developing new technology, or providing expert advice to internal partners, you will be doing work that matters in the world, in an environment built on teamwork, service, responsibility, diversity, and integrity.
2023 Summer Student - Personal & Commercial Banking - Content Designer (4 months)
What is the opportunity?
On the RBC Digital Design team, we encourage designers at all stages to continuously learn and grow. We put strategy, research, design principles, and technical innovation at the center of everything we do. We are a leader when it comes to exceptional digital experiences in the financial space and our focus on our users is an integral part of this success. As a content design intern on our team, you will be immersed in an environment that fosters creativity and a learning mindset.
Our content designers help to shape the story we tell through each of our digital experiences. Your job is to make sure that story talks about our users’ lives and what they need, not about the tangles of banking regulations or the technologies we build to make it happen.
To do that, you need to think strategically about the creation and delivery of our content: what we say, how we say it, and where we deliver each piece of that message. You’ll collaborate with colleagues in other disciplines to define the core value of the digital products we design and build. You’ll make sure that every experience – from the overtly promotional to the purely transactional – describes its core value as our clients move through and engage with it. In short: you’ll bring our digital products to life.
What will you do?
- Collaborate closely with Interface Designers, Visual Designers, Front-end Developers and Product Managers to shape the value proposition of the experiences we design and build
- Help project teams to understand how content shapes our clients’ experiences
- Work closely with business stakeholders to become a subject matter expert on the client offering
- Apply all the tools available in your strategic kit: content audits, competitive analyses, content mapping
- Develop concepts and plans for client testing
- Consider the additional or alternate content required to make our experiences accessible to clients using assistive technologies
- Find the best ways to bring the RBC digital voice to life as you help clients to do what matters most to them
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- Enrollment in a post-secondary institution (university or college) in a degree program that’s helping you to develop and refine your communication skills and your facility in using language as a plastic design medium
- Experience writing for an audience outside your area of expertise (practice communicating ideas to people who may not already know what you’re talking about)
- Strong interpersonal, presentation and communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Aptitude for self-starting, for discovering what needs to be done, even when no one else sees it
- Eagerness to collaborate with colleagues from other disciplines and your own
Please include examples of your writing that demonstrate that you’re a good fit with our team, by merging documents at the end of your resume.
What’s in it for you?
We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper. We care about each other, reaching our potential, making a difference to our communities, and achieving success that is mutual.
- Leaders who support your development through coaching and managing opportunities.
- Ability to make a difference and lasting impact.
- Work in a dynamic, collaborative, progressive, and high-performing team.
