ABOUT THE CAREER TRAINING PROGRAM
SE Career Training is a 4-month cohort-based program aimed at young people between the ages of 18 and 30 who are interested in pursuing a career that advances the energy transition. The course will offer a comprehensive introduction to the current energy system, decarbonization pathways, energy economics and policy. The core value of the program is to support young people with applied skills training related to managing and executing a project on a real-world energy problem.
The goal of SE Career Training is to provide students in our cohort with the technical and soft skills necessary for them to land an internship or entry-level role in the energy sector.
GENERAL MODULES
Month 1 will cover training and foundational modules on energy and project management to aid you throughout the program (~40-hour time commitment). All program participants will complete the general modules.




PRACTICUM PROJECT:
Months 2 through 4 will cover completing deliverables from the Practicum Project from partner organizations (~120-hour total time commitment). You will be expected to spend a total of 5 hours per week (a total of 60 hours) managing and executing your respective partner project. Partner projects fall into 2 categories:


The work on your partner project will be supplemented by technical training and skills and career coaching for another ~5 hours a week (~60 hours total).
CAREER PATHS
Weeks 5- 8 will provide students with the opportunity to absorb meaningful mentorship from energy professionals. During one-hour sessions, students will explore a range of energy career paths and one on one career planning.
DO I NEED TO PAY FOR THIS PROGRAM?
No. The SE Career Training program will be free for all successful candidates.
WILL I BE PAID FOR THIS PROGRAM?
No. This is a volunteer-based experiential learning program.
WHAT DOCUMENTS ARE NEEDED TO PREPARE FOR THE APPLICATION PROCESS?
A copy of your CV detailing your skills, work/volunteer experience will be required in the application form.
WHAT ARE THE SELECTION CRITERIA?
Successful applicants will need to show the following critical characteristics in their application: Ability to work in a diverse team environment, ability to work remotely, commitment to the program timeline, interest in specialization areas, ability to demonstrate how they hope this program will impact their careers.
WILL I NEED TO HAVE AN INTERVIEW?
There will not be a formal interview but applicants will be required to submit a 1-3-minute video answering the prompts given in the application form. (Instructions on how to submit the video will be available in the application form)
