- Work closely with lead architects and designers to produce Pre-Design, Schematic Design, Design Development and Contract Documents; including Reports, Drawings and Specifications
- Acting in a project management leading role with owner stakeholders to create a project design intent including development of Functional Programs
- Communicate with project consultants and engineers to progress design changes and coordination
- Coordinate design activities, and lead meetings with consultants and engineers as required
- Coordinate with lead designer to complete project deadlines, goals, and inspect drawings for deficiencies
- Complete OBC and Zoning analysis on projects as required
- Assist with converting design proposals into working permit drawings for submission to municipalities; including but not limited to Site Plan Applications and Building Permit Submissions
- Aid contract administrators during construction period
- Preparing and submitting; re-zoning, site plan, building permit, Ministries and other authority submission packages
- Completion of working drawings, with full consultant coordination for tendering
Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of working experience with institutional building design in Ontario. A specific focus on Educational, Healthcare, Recreation Centres, Multi-Use Residential and First Responder Facilities is an asset
- Registered OAA Architect or Intern Architect
- Proficient skills in latest versions of Revit and BIM 360
- Solid understanding of building systems, construction procedures, OBC with a focus on Part 3 buildings, city by-laws and/or regulations as required
- Sound understanding of architectural contract administration process
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point, Project)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to analyze pros and cons of various building materials, and design features
- Technical knowledge of Part 3 construction
- Ability to create architectural drawings sets in Revit
- Proven ability to work independently and cooperatively with other staff members
- Possess a valid class G drivers’ license with access to a personal vehicle
- Proven ability of complex consultant coordination and leading the development of contract document process
- Experience with site construction administration and general review
- Experience with different project delivery methods such as Stipulated Sum, Construction Management and Design Build
- Strong understating of developing project schedules and ensuring all team members are aware and execute a project within set schedule milestones
