Main Responsibility: Assist with the day-to-day operations of the research lab and field program while reporting to the Research Technician and/ or Director of Research & Development.
Responsibilities:
Assist with:
- updating seed inventory database
- seed set-up for field trials
- collection of data on seed quality of seeding and harvest samples
- collection of data on research field plots
- compilation of field trial data
- operation of lab equipment
- seed shipments
- there may be an opportunity to work part-time hours in the fall
Qualifications:
- enrollment in a diploma or degree program in plant science, agronomy, horticulture or a related discipline preferred. Applicants with a farm or rural background pursuing a diploma or degree in non-agricultural field of study are encouraged to apply.
- experience working in a research setting with seed and/ or crops is an asset
- attention to detail
- ability to follow protocols
- ability to work independently
- willingness to work outside of normal working hours when required
- willingness to work outdoors in remote locations
- valid driver’s license
- ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- excellent written and spoken communication in English
- willingness to perform tedious and repetitive tasks
